If we wish Nepal’s history and culture be continued for ages to come, we need to start strengthening the basis for the future right away. The knowledge, skill and character that our children obtain today are to strengthen Nepal and Nepalese identity and pride tomorrow. Their future will not only spread positive influence on them and their family but will also help the entire Nation of Nepal. If their dreams are fulfilled, then not only will that help them but will also help the entire country to establish itself in the world strongly and make her renowned. This is the reason why the area concerned with the future, development and dreams of our children, that is, education, is the most vital area of all. That is why, we need to put our focus on education immediately.

There is no doubt in the fact that societies, Nations and the entire World itself are shaped by the character of individuals. The type of character that is prevalent in them are to determine how societies are to become, nations are to become, and the world is to become. In the context of the same, character: discipline, harmony, love, care, sympathy, creative capacity, curiosity are the fundamental components of it. To develop such character, we use the education system but do not concern ourselves in making sure whether such character building components are embedded in our systems and even if they are embedded, yet we do not concern ourselves as much as we should have in making sure whether those components are becoming influential or not. For instance, properly conducted sporting activities develops discipline, brotherhood in children. Similarly, properly conducted artistic activities develops and enhances creative capacity and curiosity in children. Religious topics, spirituality and philosophy develops the crucial knowledge in children towards life and existence itself. Many schools of Nepal are devoid of such aspects and even though few other schools do have such aspects included, much care is not put on them as much as it should have.

Literature

We are still making a huge mistake of thinking that examinations and homework’s are the only means of learning. Due to our such pre-occupation, we become strict towards our children in only these two aspects and act accordingly. The result of which is such that our children are not learning properly. But the thing more hazardous than that is: negative influence is being spread in their psyche due to which their future, development and their dreams have become uncertain.

If we immediately do not care to become careful on the character building components mentioned above and shape our education system accordingly, not only will it mystify the future, development and dreams of our children but will surely create uncertainty over Nepal’s future itself. For instance, the dreams of many Nepalese children shatter to pieces in the first steps of their adulthood itself, the negative fruit of which even Nepal has been forced to taste. That is the reason why, the components of character building: Sports, Arts, Religion, Spirituality, Philosophy have to be provided with a special part in our education system immediately. All other things can be pushed aside for that.
